The Staff of the State Migration Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic visited Alinjagala Cultural Historical Museum on November 25th, 2017. According to the Decree issued by the Supreme Majlis (Assembly) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated 11 February 2014 on “Restoration  of Alinjagala Historical Memorial in Julfa Region”, the Alinjagala Fortress was fully restored and Alinjagala Cultural Historical Museum was established. The great national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev highly evaluated the historical and cultural value of the Alinjagala Fortress: “Alinjagala and many other monuments like it prove that Nakhchivan is an ancient land of Azerbaijan, and throughout many centuries the Azerbaijanis lived here.”

It was stated that the Alinjagala Fortress is registered in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic that is included on the list of World Heritage Monuments. The museum collection includes material and cultural examples on the lives of the people who settled in Alinjagala territory, especially ancient home things, material samples that were found during the excavation held in the fortress, written books, newspaper articles on Alinjagala, and photos taken before, during and after the restoration of the fortress.

The antiquity of the fortress was preserved during the restoration activities. The fortress’s walls, tower and entrance gates, ancient dwelling houses, household buildings, water pools and ovens, trenches and security points were restored but their antiquity was kept. A new road was constructed to the top of the fortress, a new lightening system at the fortress area was created, seats were fixed and landscape gardening was carried out. Western and eastern gates reflect the traces of the architectural school of Nakhchivan; they were restored and they were given their previous appearance. Today, the three-coloured flag fluttering on the top of Alinjagala symbolizes the state independence, sovereignty and statehood of the Azerbaijan Republic.
